目前的最大反對黨中國國民黨給一般大眾的「政治知識」（正確來說應該是假象）教育，為「中華民國軍隊在『大陸』戰敗後遷移到台灣，並希望有天能夠光復『大陸』。」然而，以上皆為中華民國為了「合法」殖民台灣所設下的騙局。
事實上，中華民國早已在1949年被中國共產黨打敗時就已經滅亡了，所謂的中華民國已經變成一個歷史名詞了，成為中國歷代的一個朝代罷了。此時原來統治台灣的日本雖然戰敗，但猶掌握台灣主權，此時若有人在台灣成立中央政府，就是獨立；很像是日本另一塊土地朝鮮半島上的南、北韓政府；只是。
1950年3月1日蔣中正在台灣成立政府，並將此政府命名為「中華民國」。並在該月13日，蔣介石在草山（今陽明山）對著高級文武百官演講，親口說出：「我們的中華民國到去年年終就隨大陸淪陷而已經滅亡了！我們今天都已成了亡國之民」；如此可證實中華民國已經滅亡了。
但是，在蔣介石過世後，接繼的蔣經國認為身為中國國民黨的總裁說出「中華民國已經滅亡」有違該黨的政治目的，於是修改他父親的講稿，將「我們的中華民國到去年年終就隨大陸淪陷而『已經』滅亡了！」改為「我們的中華民國到去年年終就隨大陸淪陷而『幾乎已等於』滅亡了！」，如此欺騙台灣人。
1945年8月15日，日本戰敗投降，盟軍統帥麥克阿瑟指派中華民國軍隊接收北越、台灣，接收擁有的權力只限於處理日本軍隊遺留的人員與物資而已，根本與主權無關，如同蘇聯接收滿州（中國後來改為東北），並未擁有滿州主權一樣。
在過往的歷史上，有一個類似這種「子禁父言」的案例，就是在大清國時期，雍正皇帝集結一些相關文稿，而成《大義覺迷錄》；後來皇帝死去，該書刊印， 卻尚未發行，繼位的乾隆皇帝登基，立即禁止發行父皇的出版品，這在人類歷史上是極為罕見的事例。
